Bead For Life

BEAD FOR LIFE

Each year, Bead for Life supports approximately 1,200 disadvantaged Ugandan women to earn a livelihood through making beads. These women are often displaced by war and conflict and widowed and support a large family. The women participate in a bead-making program for 18 months and during this time they receive income and training, and after completing the program establish their own income-producing activities.

Using income from bead-making as capital for investment, and applying their new skills, women have developed businesses in areas such as crafts, food production, manufacturing and retailing.

Bead for Life also invests in housing, education and health improvement projects to assist these women and their families.
